February began with a rush of emotions, and not the good kind. From the beginning of December 2025 to February 2026, I have been completing Applied Doctoral Project Planning I, or ADPPI. I felt optimistic at first, but things gradually grew more complex as I tried to organize my original ideas into a concise, cohesive foundation. I’m not going to lie, I doubted my whole existence at one point – my worth, my confidence, my grit, everything was questioned. The weekend of the 7th and 8th was quite productive in many ways – I met a personal goal (buying a vehicle), and I locked in, researched intensively, relied heavily on peer and tutor feedback, and submitted my first three sections of my drafted proposal.

It was posted in the classroom announcements on February 10th that if we score a ‘P’ on the Week 8 Assignment (there are 9 weeks), we have passed the class and will be moving to ADPPII. If there is an ‘NP’, then they must revise and resubmit for Week 9 to hopefully move on to the next step of the planning process.

I am happy to announce that on Thursday, February 12th, I received that ‘P’ on my Week 8 Assignment. The aim for the next month (March) is to tighten up the rest of the proposal in preparation for the Preliminary Defense. The positive note so far is that my research question has been rated as mastery, so that is one less stress to worry about. My justification statement and purpose statement can be improved a bit, but they are still satisfactory. My importance and project approach are developing, but I have a feeling that will change as I turn in revisions and receive feedback.

This update is a bit short, but that’s to be expected for the shortest month of the year. I look forward to updating you all more once I begin my study!

See you again, hopefully by Spring.
